    Originally from Toronto, Canada, Don is an award-winning photographer currently residing between Moscow and Kiev. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007, and has also received the Lange-Taylor Documentary Grant, awarded annually by the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, with writer Larry Frolick, and a World Press Award. Weber is also listed in the Magenta Foundation’s Carte Blanche, a compendium of the best in Canadian photography and Flash Forward, an annual survey of emerging photographers from Canada, the USA and the United Kingdom.

    Prior to photography, Don worked as an architect for Rem Koolhaas’ Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He has also received a Governor’s General Gold medal for Architecture while working in Canada.

    Don has exhibited widely and has had his work shown during the Voies Off Festval at Recontres des Arles, France. His work won the Grand Prize for the 2007 PHODAR Photography Biennial in Bulgaria. He has worked for such international publications as: Der Spiegel, The Globe & Mail, The Guardian, La Presse, The London Times, Maclean’s, Medecins sans Frontieres, The New York Times, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Stern, The Sunday Telegraph and Time. Don is represented by Atlas Press in New York.

    His Guggenheim Fellowship has allowed him to continue working on a book about life on the edge of Europe, and the curse of power. It’s the 18th Century with jets flying overhead.
