    Bio:
    (b.1974)Wayne Lawrence is a documentary photographer of West Indian heritage based in Brooklyn, New York. His work is a visual diary of his experiences throughout the African Diaspora and focuses on individuals and rituals within communities otherwise overlooked by the mainstream media.

    His photographs have been exhibited at the Open Society Institute, The African American Museum of Philadelphia, The Nathan Cummings Foundation, The George and Leah McKenna Museum of African American Art, The Corridor Gallery and The Calumet Gallery and has been featured in publications such as Esquire, Essence, Newsweek, Trace, Vibe, XXL and Repubblica XL.

    Photo District News has selected Wayne as one of their 30 new and emerging photographers to watch in 2010. He is a member of the Kamoinge Photographer's Collective.
